Coffee, tea, tabacco

This is Baili. She is 6 years old. She likes doing math, reading, writing and well being silly whenever she can. If you ask me she is pretty darn smart for her age. She is inquisitive, she is very observant and she is listening even if you think that she is not (there are times though that she really does not listen...its selective I think).
Let me tell you a story about my daughter...
I all started about a month and a half ago when I was talking on the phone with her while she was visiting her dad. She was telling me about some of the fun things that she had been doing on her visit. One thing she said shocked me..."Mom guess what? I had a macchiato (which is a coffee drink) today!" Me- "WHAT? Baili you drank a coffee?" the conversation continued and I we talked about how coffee is bad for us and that next time she if offered something like that she should say no thank you and ask for hot chocolate instead (I also had a firm talking to with her dad, some words might include "you idiot, hypocrite, SHE'S 6 etc).
Since this time she has spoken regularly about that experience and has voiced how much she would like her dad to stop drinking coffee. She asks, but no response has been given to that, until.....Last Sunday.

Baili is in the kitchen talking to me while I prepare dinner. She tells me again (this is a daily thing she tells me) "mom I really want my dad to stop drinking coffee" I tell her to keep asking and one day he might stop. She then stops and says mom I need to call my dad! I say ok and let her call him. While talking to him and begging him to stop drinking coffee he says to her, well Baili I want you to stop eating sugar....I then see the wheels spin in her head and she says OK!

She says ok dad I will make you a deal, I will not eat sugar this week if you will not drink coffee this week. One week dad that's all I am asking for. He says with some surprise in his voice "really? ok deal"
They hang up and she tells me all about the deal (even though I heard it all because she puts the phone on speaker). I tell her I am very proud of her and that I know she can do it.
Monday night we are at dinner and I say ohhh we have leftover pie in the fridge we need to eat (from Thanksgiving) and I say if they eat all their dinner they can have a piece. Baili quickly asks if there is sugar in the pie, I tell her there is and I was sorry. She says ok mom I need to call my dad. Hahahaha. I knew what she was going to tell him, but I let her do it and I did not say a word. She calls and tells him the deal is off. He quickly agrees tells her goodbye and she is off the phone and just sits in her chair with her head down. She does not say a word. I ask her what is wrong after a few minutes. She says that she feels really bad inside and that she thought she made a bad choice. We talk some about the Holy Ghost and what those feelings might be. I explain that sometimes its hard to not have sugar, and the same goes for her dad not having coffee. I told her though that she will be able to have sugar again next week, and I told her I would not eat any sugar either. She said ok and called her dad back and told him the deal was back on. When she got off the phone she told me with tears in her eyes that she felt so much better about not giving up and not having sugar for the week.
I am so proud of her. She is amazing. This whole thing took place on her terms, she formulated the idea, she carried it out and she is such an example to me. I hope that some eyes are opened because of what she did. I hope that not only I learn from this but that her dad does to. I hope that I can work that hard for something I want so bad just as she did. I am one proud Mom to say the least.

Family Pictures

So I have many a friend who are photographers, and they are all great at what they do. I have been wanting to get pictures take for a while now of me and my girls but just have not been able to work it right my my budget and timing with my friends.
Well a little over a week ago one of my good friends (and old roommates) took our pictures. I am so happy with how they turned out and I am super excited to share them with you all. I have lots of favorites and most of them I posted here. Now is the fun part for me to be able to pick what pictures I would like to get printed and blown up. I am open for suggestions too if you have any.
Leave me a comment and let me know, and in the mean time here is the link to my friend/photographer Jenny who took my pictures. She is just getting going in her business but so far so good. http://j-richardsonphotography.blogspot.com/

Thanks Jenny. I love them!!!

Thinking

Today I thought about a lot of different things. first off was a picture that I saw on my sisters blog. Keep reading if you are interested in a few things I thought about. Some may or may not make sense. sorry.

First of was a picture. I think pictures like this are cute....but um not when you do it yourself and you are trying to crop the thing to hide other things...

I got new pants today and I think think they make my butt look cute.
I love that I smell like my BFF (Gain).
Today is trash day, I do not want to go put my trash can out to the curb at 6:30 in the morning, in my pj's. But I have to because my trash can is soooo small it is now super full and cannot wait till next week. ~sigh~
Hum my last day of summer break, why do I feel like I just graduated HS and its my first day at college? Oh because I do not know where I am going, how to get there, don't want to be late, and because I will be too far away from my girls.
Kristen, please stop having a fit, I cannot take it anymore.
Oh this coat is one ugly coat, who would wear that? Oh ok lady who pushes me over in order to get THAT coat, I guess you are the one who wears something like that. Whatever blows your hair back.
Humm I wonder if ______________ will FB me today?
I need a new hair cut, in a bad way. I think I am gonna attempt to cut me some bangs...
hum well this will do for now as far as bangs go, but I need to get them fixed this week.
I hate wearing socks, but my feet are cold, at least I have cute socks on.
I need to paint my toenails, I want a cute picture of my feet and my girls feet.
I like my house, I have good taste in decorations, I just need to keep it clean and it would look good.
OMG, you gave my phone number to __________! And he is gonna call me? EEEEEEEEE!
Why did I feel so lonely last night but today I do not?
I am glad that you are my brother.
Kindergarten open house tonight, should I dress up? Heck yes you should, you never know right?!
I wonder if people look at my blog? I like to look at other peoples blogs. I guess you could call if blog stalking, I do that a lot. Humm.
What should I make for dinner? Oh yeah I don't have to yay.
I need to call the temple and put my name down for Friday night.
Why are you being nice to me? What are you hiding? I don't like you. I am still scared of you and what you are capable of doing to me.
I am a happy person!
I love my kids, I need to show it more often to them.
I need to work out more. I'm gonna do it! It will make me feel better about myself.
I cannot wait till Thursday when Grey's Anatomy starts. I love that show.
I hate the Doctors office its just not a comfortable place to be.
This rug is so cute. I am glad that I got it.

What do you think?

I went to Seattle last weekend and visited my friend Aimee for the weekend. While there we took a fairy over to Bermerton to visit another friend of mine Carrie. Anyways we were taking some fun pictures and these are half of them (by half I mean I cropped them and took Carrie out of the picture, she was facing the opposite of me and so you get why I would take her out so as to not embarrass her). Anyways I think they are fun pictures of me, not that anyone else cares, but I thought that I would post them just because I like them. They make me laugh, and I do not think that I look half that bad in them either.

Baili's first day of Kindergarten

I cannot believe it, today was/is Baili's first day of school. I help it together pretty well. I cried a bit last night and I did a little bit today after I left her at school. But more so I am just really excited for her. I cannot wait to hear all about her first day. I told her that when she got home I wanted to hear all about her new Friends (at least 2 of them) and about the books she read, and the play time outside, and her teacher. She was so excited and ran the whole way there. Those who where with her today as we walked her to school were Me (her mother) Kristen (sister) Jonas (her dad) and Melissa (her dads friend).

In her lunch we packed a turkey sandwich, strawberries, carrots and dip, Cheetos, s'mores cracker sandwich things, and a water bottle.

I asked her what she was doing here and she said that she was striking a pose, so the #1 finger thing does not mean anything. lol
I am so proud of Baili. She will do a great job in school. She will make friends easily and have fun. She is such a big girl and I cannot wait for her to learn and enjoy her life. Have a great year Baili. I love you!
